Upgrade standalone ESXi 4.1 to 5.5 version

hi,

i am planning to Upgrade standalone ESXi 4.1  to 5.5 version.

as it is standalone, i can not use update manager.

So how can i proceed with the upgrade on this host without affecting its VM( i am ok to power off the VMs)

Regards, Satheesh

Do a fresh install instead.
On a standalone host the config cant be so complicated that it cant be reproduced easily.

Assuming the VMs are residing on the local datastore, one of the important pre-checks would be to validate the compatibility of the local controller with ESXi 5.5. If the controller is not compatible, there are high chances that it will not have the required driver and therefore, will not see the device.

Cheers,
