What is difference between upgradation and Migration of esx/esxi host?

In my understading

Upgrade - > Upgrading the ESXi 4.x to ESXi 5.x

Migrating - > Migrating ESX versions to ESXi platform

Upgrade is the change from one version to the newer "major" release, like:

• Upgrading ESXi 3.5 or ESXi 4.0 to ESXi 5.0
• Upgrading Windows Server 2003 to Windows Server 2008
• or upgrading RHEL 5 to RHEL 6
• The term upgrade refers to the replacement of a product with a newer version of the same product (wikipedia)

At the same time, Migration is moving between platforms, like:

• Migration from ESX to ESXi
• Migration from MS SQL Database to Oracle Database (Oracle Site)
• System migration, moving computer programs from one platform to another. (wikipedia)

But you are saying esx to esxi is also migration but arvind said esxi to esxi is migration which one is correct?

Ok...May it was my mistake in reading it
