Upgrade ESXI 5.0 to 6.5

Hi is it possible to upgrade directly from 5.0 to 6.5? Or, is it better to upgrade to some version in between before going to 6.5?

Thank you

You cannot upgrade directly from 5.0 to 6.5, you will need go first at least to version 5.5, see: VMware Product Interoperability Matrices

Anyway, my recommendation is to consider a clean install instead of the upgrade.

Richard is correct...however, please do not forget to check the hardware compatibility list before proceeding to install/upgrade to ESXi 6.5...

Thanks,

I have one ESXi 5.0 running with several VMs. From what I've learned in this thread, it's better to do a fresh install of ESXi 6.5 instead of hoping to 6.0 and then to 6.5.

My question is: is that possible to fresh install the ESXi 6.5 with all VMs and settings in place, without moving them out of the box?  If so, where can I find a recipe on how to do it?

Thanks.
