Upgrade 7 to 8. Is there a time period to allow actual upgrade?

May take a couple of weeks to do the upgrade but want to upgrade license now. Seems like I should just have to wait until I do the upgrade and plug in the new key?

@louyo - Couple of options that may help your decision making process

- You get a 60 day grace period anyway on the new versions of vCenter and ESXi that you install, before they have to be licensed, that should give you some time to play with

- You can do what we did and split your license keys to give you more time. We did this when we were upgrading from 6.7 to 7.0 as we were running 2 clusters in parallel. This was a good option for us as it allowed us to stand up an all new vSphere 7.0 cluster, configure everything how we wanted it. Test everything. Then when ready we used the Advanced Cross vCenter vMotion feature to migrate across the 2 SSO domains. worked a treat. Once complete you can upgrade the other half of your keys to the new version.

Thanks, forgot about the 60 days. That should do it.
