Updating ESXi 4.1.0 - crashing - errors - help? "Call made on UI thread"

Hello,

I'm using the Update Utility to update my ESXI server..

It keeps stopping and crashing.

Most of the time, it is me getting stuck with my internet shutting off.

It always gives me an error message!

Sometimes, after a few reboots - it works!

Here's what my log says..

I have uploaded the log!

VIU 9 - is recent!

VIU 8 is older!

It looks like it got passed somethings on VIU 9, that it didn't on VIU 8. The log for VIU 9 is larger..

Can anyone help me?

Now I'm updating the server again.

I had 10 patches available - yesterday installed 2 successfully.

I'm doing the complete update right now.

It is frozen at 45% at 'Maintenance mode enetered.'

The patch operation has failed with this error: An error occurred during operation: Install20

Host Update Utility is no more available for vSphere 4.1

Use other way, like for example:

Okay -

Thank you for the reply.

However, how do I download the command line utility program, to update Vmware ESXi?

It's part of the vMA appliance:

I had something similar happen today when patching a bunch of 4.1 U1 hosts using the host update utility from Vsphere 4.0. What I found was the Symantec Endpoint Protection firewall was blocking the uploads. After disabling SEP, then was able to patch several hosts just fine.

So, to those who say the host update utility won't patch a 4.x host...obviously that's nonsense.
