Updating 6.7 build

Two datastores on separate drives. Do the datastores get modified in any way during the update process? I'm wondering if I can keep the second datastore out of the server while the update runs. Regardless of the reason for wanting to do it this way, will the datastore mount after the update is done? It's not a major upgrade like 6.7 to 7, it's only a build update within 6.7

You can fully control the behaviour when updating your host through cli with "esxcli software profile get" and "esxcli software profile update". When you perform update and upgrade with custom iso you can also select to preserve datastore so only the bootbank parition and co will be update. Your datastores are fully preserved and untouched.
