Hello,
a customer recently updated his ESXi hosts to version 6.0.0, 5572656. We run a few virtualized macOS systems there and I am not able to update VMware Tools on it. I'll append the error message when I try to update VMware Tools from our VCSA by inserting an ISO.
I checked some of the KB articles and it led me to a site where I am able to download Version 10.1.15 (https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/details?downloadGroup=VMTOOLS10115&productId=614#product_download...). I hesitate to download and install it, because I don't know if this version is compatible to run under the current ESXi version. Is there any place where I can confirm the compatibility?

Actually, latest version is compatible with most recent version of ESXi.
You can take backup or snapshot before update for sure.

There are times when it's not necessary to update the VMware Tools inside the Guest even though it is best practice to make sure VMware Tools are updated as soon as the ESXi host gets an updated version of the VMware tools.
There are also times when the VMware Tools ISO on the ESXi host is corrupted. Please review KB Troubleshooting a failed VMware Tools installation in a Guest Operating System (1003908).
