Update to vSphere 6 -> AD Members

Hello,

i do an upgrade from Vsphere 5.5 to 6.

This works fine.

Only  the rights from my AD members lost.
I must connect Vsphere 6 with my AD again and set the rights.

Is this correct?
Is it possible to migrate the AD members?

Thanks

Dennis

Hi,

well it depends how your identity sources and permissions were organized before the upgrade, for post upgrade SSO behavior check:

How SSO Affects Upgrades

Also have a look at these:

VMware KB: vCenter Server not listed in the inventory after installing or upgrading to vSphere 5.5 /...

VMware KB: After upgrading to vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 domain user log-in fails with the error: ...

VMware KB: After Installing or Upgrading to vCenter Server 6.0, logging in to the vSphere Web Client...

For roles/permissons backup try these scripts:

Thanks, i read the KB articles but i think there is no solution.

I'm using the vsphere vcenter server appliance with easy install and embedded platform Controller.

I think an upgrade from 5.5 to 6 should possible with keep my ad permissions.

I don't understand why this don't work for me...

We have switched from "joining" VCSA instances to the domain to using AD LDAP. It seems to be much more reliable.
