Update Perc drivers ESXi 5.5

Hi all,

I have a task to update the PERC drivers on our ESXi Server. We have Dell T430 with H730 adapter. I received also a link where to download the drivers and update them: https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?downloadGroup=DT-ESX55-LSI-SCSI-MEGARAID-PERC9-69035500-1OE... the problem is that I've never did such an update and I couldn't find much information with the steps to perform. Should I use putty and esxcli or powercli. If someone could provide a link or help about the steps this would be great.Thank you very much in advance.

Sorry, you wrote driver not firmware... my fault Smiley Happy

You can install such packages with the esxcli on the host.

“esxcli software vib” commands to patch an ESXi 5.x/6.x host (2008939) | VMware KB

Just copy the package to the host and login with SSH.

Hi pernika,

you can use the servers iDRAC or the LifeCycleController to upgrade the firmware.

Hi efanjo

I've already did it but according to the information I received, I have to perform 3 Steps:

- update Firmware Bios - i have the link and i will do it with idrac

- update the PERC driver - with CLI (this is not fully clear - I asked again but I don't think that I will receive an answer in the next 24 hours

- update the firmware of the controller - also through iDRAC

the unknown part is the steps with CLI and which CLI exactly.

aha, sorry for bothering you. It is about the vib file. I did something similar when I installed OMSA vib there. Thank you very much for pointing me.
