Hello,
Very simple question but just need to confirm.
I can see "VMware vCenter Update Manager" in Manager Plug-ins showing status "Download and Install".
Want to know if I install it, will there be any kind of auto configuration to the host patches download etc, anything that will start affecting our hosts, vms or nothing will change, just there will be Update Manager tab in addition, nothing else?
thanks.
There is no harm downloading and installing, this is a client plugin and does not impact your hosts in any way. Once installed you get an additional "Update Manager" tab where you can switch between compliance and admin view to manage your infrastructure. Patches are downloaded into a central repository and only deployed to your hosts when you remediate them - this is not an automatic process, so you need to initiate it.
Cheers,
Jon

The update manager tab will be in addition. Plus every hosts will be having scan, update, remediate options[from update manager] added when you right-click
The configuration of the hosts can be done only if you select the update manager tab and do the scaning or patching.
Ok so there is no harm in just installing that plug-in, correct?
