Unmounting a NFS datastore - one VM connected

Hi,

i want to unmount a NFS datatore but one VM is connected. The problem is that this VM has several snapshots and the owner of the VM would not delete all snapshots. Is there a possible way to find out which snapshot is connected to nfs?

Kind regards

That is possible to relate the child disk/snapshot based on the snapshots filename.

Every time a snapshot is taken, it creates a new child disk with a new number (<vm>-<number>.vmdk and <vm>-<number>-delta.vmdk). To understand better the snapshot nomenclature see this kb.

That number might be wrong in case you had leftover snapshots before taking the new one. Even though there is a considerable chance of you being able to relate it.

what is there in this NFS datastore?

is it ISO files library, and your VM has one of the snapshot CD/DVD drive mounted with an ISO from that datastore? If that is the case,

all you got to do is check content of .VMSN files one by one. There will be 1 such .vmsn file per snapshot you will find in that VM folder.

One or more files holding record like following screenshot is indicating that CD/DVD drive is mounted with an ISO, this will also give you whole path so it will be more easy for you to identify.
