Hello
In our environment we have 2 clusters, some SAN datastores are shared between both clusters. But now we need to unmap some SAN datastore from one of the clusters (clusterB)
At this moment there are not clusterB vms running in the datastores that we need to unmap, but the ClusterA have vms running on them.
My question is:
Can I request the storage team unmap the luns from clusterB without any problem? Remember that we have running vms on those datastores in clusterA
Regards
Federico
It all depends on how they're mapped. If Cluster A hosts are mapped in the same initiator group (this depends on your storage vendor), then it's possible to remove Cluster A and Cluster B hosts at the same time. If hosts are mapped by Cluster or individually, the operation is a bit more safe.
Just be clear with the storage team and list the initiators you want unmapped from particular LUNs.

I request my SAN admin to do the same several times and he does all the time ..mounting /unmounting same LUNs which is shared across several hosts.
Your SAN admin will help on this
