Unable to upgrade free esxi from 7.0 Update 1 to 8.0

Hello,

I apologize if such a topic has been already discussed, but I was unable to find it. I am trying to upgrade free esxi from 7.0 Update 1 to 8.0, but I am unable to do so. First of all I tried with writing the .iso to an usb flash drive, but during the upgrade I got the following error:

esxi_error.JPEG

I also tried a different approach, by uploading VMware-ESXi-8.0-20513097-depot.zip in the storage and then execute the following command:

esxcli software profile update -d /vmfs/volumes/6026b1c1-a1709399-667b-18c04d0c2b15/VMware-ESXi-8.0-20513097-depot.zip -p ESXi-8.0.0-20513097-standard

Which resulted in the following error:

[InstallationError]
Failed to query file system stats: Errors:
Cannot open volume:
cause = Errors:
Cannot open volume:
Please refer to the log file for more details.

I've checked pretty much every log, but couldn't find any error related to the upgrade

Any help will be highly appreciated!
