Unable to start VM

Hi ,


I have installed Workstation 10.0 on windows server 2k8 (64bit).Inside this workstation ,I have installed Esxi 5.0 server.

I am able to access this through vsphere client.but I am unable to start VM on it.it gives below error.


"you are running VMWorkstation through an incompatible hypervisor.you cannot power on a virtual machine until this hypervisor is disabled "


Machine Configuration::

AMD phenon Processor(X86_X64).

16 GB RAM

1 TB HDD.


Please help somebody to sort out this issue...

That's odd, I do this on my laptop and have no issues ... Windows 8.1 Pro, Workstation 10, Nested ESXi with running VM's.

Perhaps you can try adding this to your nested VM's vmx file;

vmx.allowNested = TRUE

Just a couple of things to maybe check.

Make sure under your processors you have "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI"  ticked.

Make sure you have Hardware Virtualization enabled in you machines BIOS.

Also, as jrmunday said, add the line to the .vmx file (Located with your VMs VMDK"

Alternatively, you can remove the VM from the inventory and register it again.

Do you run Hyper-V on the Windows 2008 server?
