I'm not able to restore VM based backup taken from Netbackup 7.5. I have asked Netbackup support team but they said the issue is from VMware end and not from Netbackup end. While performing restore vCenter not even creates a VM although all the rights are given to Netbackup.

VMware policy restore error(2820)
Hi there and welcome to the forums!
Just an out there thought - do you have any other devices connected to the VM when you back it up, i.e. USB devices?
Can you try backing up and restoring a VM that only has the standard devices connected and post your findings?
Kind regards,
ThompsG
I dont kown.

Dear ThompsG, Thanks for your time.
Then VM i'm trying to restore is having no USB attached to it and is with normal configuration.
yes
Hi there,
Is it possible to either attach the VMX file or a screenshot showing the configuration of the VM?
Thanks,
Glen

Hi,
Thats an extract from the restore log. What I'm hoping for is a screenshot of the VM configuration or the VMs configuration file. The error is suggesting that a device was attached to the VM which is not available when you run the restore.
Is it possible to provide one or both of these?
Kind regards.
After lot of troubleshooting i came to a conclusion that this error is related to CD-ROM drive of VM. If i remove it there will be no error. This is not right and not logical, many be it's a bug in Netbackup 7.5.
Hi,
Glad you have resolved it - probably the CDROM drive would have been set to either Host Device or Datastore ISO file rather than Client Device. On a restore this device may not have been available for re-connection to the VM.
Either way, excellent find.
Kind regards.
Hello everyone,
I would like to say, that is not a bug from 7.5, I had the same issue with the same version.
I would suggest you, verify the compatibility list of Netbackup and the ESX version.
