Unable to power on VM : Unable to access file

Hi everyone !

I have a VM that I unable to power on.

The error I get in vSphere client is : "Unable to access file <unspecified filename> since it is locked"

I try "vm-support -X vmid", but nothing change

I try this : http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=10051&slic...

Now, I know the name of the locked file and who lock it, but I'm unable to unlock it.

This happen 3 or 4 times since the last 6 months. The only solution I found is rebooting the ESX host, but it's not a good solution

Since this is a recurring issue you might want to file a Service Request with VMware. http://www.vmware.com/support/policies/howto.html

I'm currently running ESX 4.0.0 208167

I will upgrade it to ESX 4.1 the next month, maybe this issue will be resolved.

I wouldn't count on it being resolved. Issues get resolved when people identify issues and VMware fixes them. I would file an SR.
