Hey all,
Been doing a lot of searching and haven't turned up any successful results. Currently unable to ping my ESXi VM's from my Windows 10 laptop which is running workstation 11. I have setup a custom VMnet (host only) with a specific subnet that the ESXi management interface is addressed to. I assigned that same VMnet to my ESXi VM settings. I have dropped my windows firewall, disabled anti virus software, disabled ESXi firewall and reconfigured NIC drivers to vmxnet3 with no success. I know the VMnet I created is functioning because I have an XP machine in that same VMnet we are able to ping successfully between the XP VM and my laptop.
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Fixed with help from coworker. I am brand new to VMware and have a lot to learn.
With configuration noted in my previous post I made the following changes.
Modified my portgroups to VLAN ID 0
Configured NIC drivers to vmxnet3
I can now vSphere from my host laptop into my ESXi 5.5 guest VM.
