Hi,

What is error that you get when you try to delete it. If it says it has lock, then you vmkfstools -D filename , it will give mac address of the host which has lock.

Does the folder of the dead vm contain any vswp files? Also, do a ps -cPt | grep -i vmx | grep -i <deadVM name>

Hi

The problem is that the LUN is showing as if i can expand the current

datastore to it even it is already part of current datastore

Error delete \vmfs\volumes\uuid\grid controller

You are able to rename from the same ESX server where you are trying to delete it??

Now, you had me a bit confused. Can you explain your setup a little bit, provided with some error messages from logs or even screenshots would be fine.
