What have you tried?

Have you tried connecting using IP address, for example?

I think i found the problem...the incorrect DNS servers exist on the esx servers..

i am trying to change these, however they are greyed out?? hence not able to edit..

any thoughts?

Hi,

can you check the file /etc/resolv.conf . if dns server address wrong then edit VI editor give proper IP address of the DNS server.

and restart network service service network restart

It is reported that a dirty hack like this one exists - add the following line to the /etc/vmware/config :

vmauthd.server.alwaysProxy=TRUE

Here is also a possible KB for the issue:

iSCSI SAN software

Turns out after a restart of the ESX server the console has started working...so was a DNS issue..
