Unable to connect ESX5i

Hi,

Our eval period has expired, and we had a power cut last week were the ESX host shutdown.

I am now not able to log into the host using the vsphere client to install the new licence key.

it says AN unknown connection error occured. Unable to connect to the remote server.

I am also not able to telnet the host on 443 or port 80

Any idea;s?

Thanks

Did you already verify the host's network settings?

I'd recommend you go to the console (or use e.g. ILO as mentioned above) to see whether the correct management IP address is displayed. Then login to the DCUI and run "Test Management Network" to verify proper network connectivity.

Hi,

You need to connect the host directly through console and need to restart the management agent.

To restart the management agents on ESXi:

  1. Connect to the console of your ESXi host.
  2. Press F2 to customize the system.
  3. Log in as root.
  4. Use the Up/Down arrows to navigate to Restart Management Agents.
Note: In ESXi 4.1 and ESXi 5.0, this option is available under Troubleshooting Options.
  5. Press Enter.
  6. Press F11 to restart the services.
  7. When the service has been restarted, press Enter.
  8. Press Esc to log out of the system
Thanks n Regards
