Unable to boot the esx from usb

Hi All,

In my home lab I have VMware workstation 11. I want to test installing esxi 6 on usb drive and then to boot the esxi with usb drive.

for this I created a vm and mounted esxi 6 iso. There is no HDD attached on this vm

I booted esxi from the iso and selected the usb drive and install esxi on it

disconnected the iso and then tried booting the esxi 6 vm from the usb but it wont boot.

I have even tried rufus utility but no go.

as suggestion what I am missing

Hi

Workstation doesn't support boot from USB directly.

What you can do is use Plop Boot Manager, have your VM boot from plbpt.iso and in the boot menu, select the attached USB.
