Unable to add vmfs storage on vCenter 5.0

Hi,

I get the followoing error when I trying adding a Disk/LUN on vCenter 5.0.

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.CreateVmfsDatastore" for object "datastoreSystem-29" on vCenter Server "FQDN.domain.net"  failed.

(My ESXi Host = ESXi 5.0

My SAN = EMC VMAX. Fiber)

Looking forward to a response.

Regards,

Bernard M.

check for error messages in /var/log/vmkerenel and /var/log/hostd when you create the datastore.

Thanks Mauro,

both GPT and msdos labels are supported in ESXi 5.0. anything other than that may cause this error.

In 4.1 GPT was not supported and customers used to hit this issue while adding a LUN which is created in 5.0 to a 4.1 host.
