I have 4 servers that I have updated to ESXi 6.7.0 Update 3 (Build 14320388) and on all 4 servers, the web interface now shows a timeout error when I attempt to login:
I can access the page with no problems. I start by logging in:
I then get an error saying "Connection to ESXi host timed out:"
If I try to refresh the page after this, I just get the VMware logo:
Sometimes the page will load, but I see this in the title of the tab and I am not able to do anything inside the page:
I am experiencing this problem on two Dell R620 servers that are hosted in a data center and two Dell R420 servers that I have at home. They are not on the same network, yet they are both exhibiting the same exact issue. I have tried Chrome, Chrome Incognito, Microsoft Edge, and Opera. If I reboot the servers, I am able to temporarily access the web interface, but I eventually start getting these timeouts again. I am not able to SSH to the servers because SSH gets disabled on each reboot. I have also found that if I connect to the management console via iDRAC, I can press F2 and get prompted for credentials, but after accepting the credentials, it just hangs and is no longer responsive to keyboard commands:
Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix this? The fact that it is happening on 4 different servers on 2 different networks leads me to believe there is a larger problem here and not something localized to my installs.
I have the exact same problem.....multiple sites, multiple machines...all Dells.
Same here as well. All Dells but totally different cluster setups.
While I am sorry you guys are having problems, I am glad that I am not the only one experiencing this issue. This probably means it will get fixed.
Same issue. Even tried loading the Dell custom IMG with 6.7 update 3.
Wondering if I should wipe the host experiencing this issue, or wait for a fix.
** Dell T130
It's seem R620 and R420 are unsupported h/w models.
Please check VMware Compatibility Guide
My servers are listed as compatible with 6.7 U3 so that's not the issue.
Did you open an SR for this - did you shift R to revert, some log snippets would be useful
I am using the free version of ESXi so I can't obtain support on it. I ended up reverting to the previous build. I hope VMware sorts this problem out.
We are using the paid version but our support has expired. I reverted the machines I upgraded and all is well now.

If you are not seeing issue now. Please close this thread.
Also would like to know what was base ESXi version used before upgrading to ESXi 6.7.0 Update3.
Hi,
I have dell R620 in my inventory and i did not face this issue. I did update from 6.5.0 Update 3 to ESXi 6.7.0 Update 3.
ESXi web interface is well accessible, SSH permissions too same before and after upgrade.
Can you provide more details here, so that i can help you in this.
Which was your base ESXi version?
What was your update mechanism? VUM or esxcli profile update or vib update?
if possible, attach vmkernel logs and hostd logs.
I am having the same issue with my Dell R740's.
ESXi version on our servers before upgrade was 6.7.0, 13644319
I have been through updating all the firmware on the servers in case that might have been a contributing factor. Has not helped.
Seems to have the symptoms of hostd going unresponsive - without logs its hard to tell, if you have access can you check in hostd log for "hostd detected to be non-responsive"
Hi Johncol
I am not seeing that error in the hostd.log. However I am seeing quite a few errors along the lines of:
error hostd[2099045] [Originator@6876 sub=Solo.HttpSvc.HTTPService] Failed to read request; stream: <io_obj p:0x0000001bff395c60, h:-1, <TCP '127.0.0.1 : 8309'>, <TCP '127.0.0.1 : 57594'> FD Closed>, error: N7Vmacore16TimeoutExceptionE(Operation timed out: Stream: <io_obj p:0x0000001bff395c60, h:-1, <TCP '127.0.0.1 : 8309'>, <TCP '127.0.0.1 : 57594'> FD Closed>, duration: 00:00:46.410307 (hh:mm:ss.us)
Do you have any specific 3rd party software installed in ESXi , or are you booting through Dell custom Image. If possible, can share "esxcli software vib list" output and attach the log files ( boot.gz and hostd.log) from the host where this issue is seen.
The host has been upgraded with the DellEMC-ESXi-6.7U3-14320388-A00. It was using the DellEMC-ESXi-6.7U2-13006603-A00 image prior to the upgrade.
