Unable to Install Vmware Client

Hello Community,

I'm currently trying to create new virtual machine with existing vmdk. I have followed the steps outlined here Creating a Workstation virtual machine using existing VMDK virtual disks (2010196) | VMware KB, but on my ESiX 5.1.

However, when I power on the VM I get the message shown in the image.

Can someone let me know where I'm going wrong?

Cheers

Carlton

Was the virtual disk created for a hosted product (e.g. VMware Player or Workstation)?

In such a case you cannot only upload the virtual disk's file(s) but need to convert them to a supported format (see e.g. https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1028943)

Virtual disks consist of files with a .vmdk extension. Howver, there are different formats for these .vmdk files for ESXi, and other VMware products.

Do you have a complete list of files in the VM's folder?
