USBArbitrator missing

I am trying to mount a external USB HD to a host server I adopted recently. I need to make it available to the host so I can create a backup of the VMs.  Every piece of documentation I find says to stop the usbarbitrator but the usbarbitrator script is not in /etc/init.d/

Am I missing something?

What vSphere version are you using? (You posted in the ESXi 4 group)

The USB Arbitrator was added from ESXi 4.1 and later.

So any idea how to go about mounting a USB device in 4.0? Or am I going to be forced to upgrade?
