USB on host ESXi 5.5

Hi everybody,

Just a simple question :

Is it possible to mount a USB key (or drive, whatever) on the host ESXi 5.5 ? (Not to access it with the VM but really on the host to copy the VM to the USB key, for example).

It's not possible with the old version but I want to know if it's OK now with the ESXi 5.5.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

yes it's possible. You have to stop the service first that will otherwise pass the USB media through to the VMs.

Here's how to do it:

VMware KB: Cannot mount a USB key or disk device media to an ESXi/ESX host
