USB device passtrough

Hi all!

I have ESXi 5 latest updates installed.

I bought CyberPower UPS and connected it via USB to my ESX. In virtual machine I added USB device and

virtual machine recognises UPS. But after few minutes, ESXi host just freezes... If UPS not connected to ESX, it does not freeze.

So maybe I have to configure passtrough.

I have number of USB to select for passtrough, but I have a question, how can I know which USB port is configured for passtrough?

I attached image.

If I select 1 of them, how will I know to which USB I have to connect my UPS?

Thanks!

Hi, VMware supports a specfic set of USB devices for passthrough. It's documented at http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1021345. I dont think the device that you mention here is listed in the supported list.

But if you still want to try it, probably you may have to go through vmkernel.log / usb.log to see what's really happening at the device level. Also it's worth checking VM log file ( vmware.log inside VM directory ). I hope ssh session is active though the host is not responding?

Thanks,
