Hello,

I'm trying to get the USB3 device above to be available to my VM's... and Im not getting anywhere.

This error may be the sum of my problem. I dont seem to be able to get the xHCI module to load....

     [root@BroadWellMiniESXi6:~] vmkload_mod xhci

vmkload_mod: Can not load module xhci: Invalid or missing namespace

Setup: A mini fanless PC with not a lot, but a perfect database server.

Everything is good.... BUT ... I need more storage space every now and then and the one disk slot is taken.
So Im using USB3 SSD drives.

However, they are seen as USB2 even through I can Add a USB3 device, the VM does not show USB3 speeds.

And when I look at the VM using USBTree, I see  SS ports, but cant access them.

I've switched the BIOS settings for the xHCI and eHCI hand over to enabled / disabled ... disabled /  disabled etc etc and still no joy.

Has anyone any other hints ?

Here is the hardware...
