USB 2.0 instead of USB 1.1

Hey all, we just started doing the passthrough and adding the USB controller to a VM.  It's just for a Hi-Rely device used for doing backups with BackupExec (it uses external hard drives).  Unfortunately it's only allowed USB 1.1 and now our back ups are taking 36 hours instead of 4.  Anyone have any suggestions on why we're not getting USB 2.0?  We're using ESXi 4.1 and the VM has Server 2003 SP2.  Thanks!

I would try using a different USB port / controller. Some servers have included 1.1 and 2.0 USB controllers. It is possible that a mouse or keyboard is on the same controller and would reduce USB to 1.1 speeds. Check the BIOS to make sure there isn't a setting that affects USB port speed. Check for updated motherboard firmware at an appropriate level for ESXi 4.1 Remove the USB passthrough and try again. ????????

Quite honestly I would use something other than USB for backup. Try a Network destination with an eSATA disk. Some small NAS devices support eSATA hot plug.
