hello;
I have two questions:
1- What does stand for UG, BG, SG,GA in the end of ESX Patch file.For example:
ESX/ESXi 410-201011401-BG,
ESX/ESXi 410-201010401-SG,
ESX/ESXi 4.1.0 GA
2- what is the meaning of part of patch file name? For example: ESX/ESXi <Release>-<Date>-xx ???
Thanks,
a wild guess from me would be GA = general availability .. but that's just my quest ..
UG = Update bundle
BG = Bug Fix bundle
SG = Security Fix bundle
GA = General Fix bundle
These definitions are provided in this patching document - http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/esx_patching_best_practices.pdf
It does not go over what the last letter stands for "G" or "A"
I think GA means Generally available, i havent seen GA comes in Patch bulletin/Bundle name.
In addition to:
BG - bug fix bundle
SG - security fix bundle
UG - update bundle
there's one more:
RG - roll-up bundle
