UDP/TCP ping on ESXi5

Hello everyone,

I'm using Cacti to monitor hosts in our organization via pings and snmp.

In version 4 and 4.1 - I could have used UDP and TCP without an issue.

Seems like the Firewall on version 5 would only accept ICMP and would block TCP/UDP - "ping timed out".  Unfortunately, as I can use it, I'd rather use UDP(Even 'refused' would do it). Anyone encountered this issue?

Correct... the ESXi 5 firewall permit ICMP packets, but filter the other.

You can use a open port instead (like the TCP 443)
