Trying to update to 4.0 Build 2, what am I doing wrong?

Good Afternoon,

I'm attempting to update an ESX 4.0.0 Build-208167, to ESX 4.0.0 Build-261974, but I'm recieving a BundleFormatError Command line.

I'm following this KB: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=101772...

and downloading "upgrade-from-esx4.0-4.0_update02.zip" from: http://www.vmware.com/patch/s3portal.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=SearchPatch&SearchPatch_actionOv...;

After I download it, I ftp it over to the ESX host.

When I run esxupdate --bundle upgrade-from-esx4.0-4.0_update02.zip -scan from the command line. It scans the whole file and returns the BundleFormatError (I've attached a screenshot of the full error).

The ESX 4 Patch Management Guide lists this error as t ypically being because of file corruption or format, so to be safe I re-downloaded the file, and ftp'ed, and recieved the same error. (For the 2nd attempt I renamed the file to esxupdate2.zip, that is why you see that file name in the screen shot.)

Am I choosing the wrong file to download? Or making some other rookie mistake?

Thanks, Troy that word for me.

The only 2 differences in the process were:

1. Using VSphere's datastores to move the file instead of FTP

2. When he used esxupdate he prefix the file bundled with file:///filepath
