Trying to clone a disk - fails no matter what I try

Hi Guys

I have a VM I'm trying to clone.

I can't make it work no matter what I try.

I've tried checking it for locks, it doesn't seem to be locked.

I've tried copying it via the converter, I've tried via the databrowser in vsphere client, I've tried via SSH.

I even tried creating a second disc, booting into a rescue disc, and copy if with the dd command.

After approx. 35 GB of the 40 GB I get a 'failed' message.

The machine is a simple VMware box with a local disc and a lot of RAM, and it only runs a few VM's.

Do you have any ideas I can try out?

I suspect a filesystem error on the VMWare host, but how do I check that?

Got it fixed.

I had to use CloneZilla in rescue mode.

Somehow 6 blocks in the virtual disc was corrupted, and couldn't be read???

It then created a new disc, and I could then export the VM of the VMWare.

It's now running on KVM on my NAS, and I just saved some power 🙂
