Trying to add disk in VM ( "StorageResourceManager.RecommendDatastores" for object "StorageResourceManager" on vCenter Server " vCenter" failed)

Trying to add disk in VM

SDRS cluster receive the error

"StorageResourceManager.RecommendDatastores" for object "StorageResourceManager" on vCenter Server " vCenter" failed

To work around this issue :-

Disable Storage DRS, now we are able to add the disk in VM.

Can any one help for permanent solution for the same.

Hi,

What's version of the vCenter?

Is the vmdk stored in the datastore with storageDRS enabled?

That is probably same problem as the following KB.

Having problems deploying new virtual machines, adding disks to existing virtual machines and relocating existing virtual machines between datastores.

http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2021361

I think that Storage DRS prevents adding vmdk to VM.

To work around this issue :-

we have Disable Storage DRS, now we are able to add the disk in VM.

We are looking for permanent solution ......

OK.

Can you post vpxd.log so that we can review it.

Please specify the time frame too.

Here is the fix :

Go to your vCenter client : Edit menu --> Client settings and check the custom value : 60 seconds delay.

No need to disable SDRS anymore, and no need to go to the web client.
