Trouble with VIhostupdate.pl....... Installing 3ware 9750 Raid Card

Hey all,

I am trying to follow LSI KB instructions on how to setup this 9750 Raid SATA/SAS Card

There having me use the instruction:

perl vihostupdate.pl -server x.x.x.x -username root -password "" -b c:\offline-bundle.zip -i

Now I change everything to fit my configuration and it responds back with:

This Operation is NOT supported on 4.1.0 platform.

Can some one shed some light on this issue? I feel like I am so close to getting this up and running.

Thanks,

Jeff

I'm assuming you're using vCLI 4.1 on either a Linux/Windows or vMA? Is your ESXi 4.1 licensed or are you using the free version?

Ah, that is the problem, you're using free ESXi license. To use any of the remote CLI's, you'll need to have a licensed version of ESXi. Generally you would see the following error message:

Fault string: fault.RestrictedVersion.summary
Fault detail: RestrictedVersionFault
