  • 1.  Trouble setting up VCenter Single Sign On

I'm trying to setup up VCenter single sign on. The only directions I can find is for the VSphere Web Client. Is there any directions from the regular VSphere client? I tried installing the VSphere web client to do it and it's asking me for the VCenter SSO info in the install.

Below is the log from me attempting to type in what I thought could be the admin account.

Please provide some details like the Windows Server version on which you are trying to install SSO and which features/roles are installed on the server. Which SSO version do you try to install?

I didn't know there was different versions. I thought it was a feature of VCenter Server??? I have VCenter server 5.1 installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine. The server has ADLDS, File services and Hyper V as active roles. Even though there are no Hyper V machines running on it. As far as features it has .NET 3.0, Remote Server Admin Tools, Telnet Client, and Telnet Server running on it.

The version I wanted to know is actually the one you mentioned (5.1 vs. 5.5). For vSphere 5.1 the default SSO administrator is admin@System-Domain, did you already try this user with the password you configured when you installed SSO (which I assume is already installed).

Yes. I tried "admin@System-Domain" with all possible passwords I could have set it too. I typed that exactly as listed in the parenthesis. That is correct right? I'm not supposed to change it to the domain the VCenter server is set to?
