To shutdown properly by using PCNS on HA environment

Hi, I am looking for the way to shutdown ESX 4.1 with HA.

I suppose following procedure need to be done.

1)Shutdown guest OS

2)Change ESX to Maintenance mode

3)Shutdown ESX

1) might be done by using vmware-cmd

vmware-cmd --server <ESX Name> --username root --password password <vmx file path> stop soft

2)I couldn`t find any command to change it into manitenance mode.

If any command is available. could you please teach me?

3) will be done thru Service console from PCNS.

Thank you.

Since VMware doesn`t accept to shutdown every Hosts in HA environment, I can`t shutdown all VMs automatically.

Also I have tried to shutdown every VMs by using vmware-cmd. I could done it successfully.

After shutdown every VMs, I have changed ESXs to Maintenance mode by using vimsh (unofficial command??).

It seemed that we could succeeded to run fully in our test environmemt.

But in customer`s site, we couldn`t succeeded. Unstable reaction occurred.

In some case, virtual machine couldn`t shutdown properly. And stopped VM started suddenly (may be caused by HA).

Is there any good solution to shutdown every VMs and Hosts automatically in case of outage or scheduled shutdown required?

Our customer doesn`t want to pay more for this kind of solution...

Regards,
