Welcome to the Community - Typically if the NIC is supported it will automatically be detected and available for use to be added to virtual switch - what NIC are you using?
Also I have moved this thread to a more appropriate forum -
Yes it must be a supported NIC. BTW, you can try check from the command line whether your host has detected one or two NIC
Alt-F1 -> login as root -> #lspci or #esxcfg-nics -l
Hi,
Thank you for you response. I am using Dlink DEF-538X Rev.D1 NIC card. For this do i need to install any pre request drivers.
Thanks in advance
Jeriesh
Check this KB http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=103478...
Also check if the NIC card is in HCL (http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php)
Id guess that is NOT on the HCL, while you mght be able to add drivers, Id just get a 1Gb Intel or Broadcom pNIC... Ebay you can get them for <$20 Id think..
As others pointed out check the HCL matrix.
