Time taken by the Test and as well as Failover. how much time difference is there.
Please clarify the test and failover scenario you are thinking of, i.e. HA, FT, failover to a DR site, ...

I think you're talking about SRM and the time for Failover will be greater than Test, cause the failover will make some additional tasks, like stop VMs from protected site and stop replication and make target writable.
