Hi,
I have a probleme with the time on all ESX (x3)
in fact when a get the commande "time" in consol, the time it's "Wed May 16 07:50:36 UTC 2012" so the true time of my zone (France) it's up to 2 hours (9:50:36)
I think it's a probleme with the time zone.
I check the KB but i don't find the files
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1436
another point. All the VMs who are configure to synchronise Time with esx in VMWare tools are good.
In tab Configuration and time configuration of esx the ntp and date time are correct.
Thanks
Welcome to the Community,
ESXi uses UTC time and does not support changing time zones The vSphere Client uses the time zone settings of the system on which it is installed to adjust the displayed time.
Thanks for you reply. That is what i thought
But it's really strange to can't change time zone...
I have monitoring systime on ESXs by snmp management and so they are always in error. So i can exclude this check
ESXi was made this way to save space for the time zoning configuration, as it is really not needed. As all the tools tha talk to the vmkernel can translate from UTC, there would be no problem. What you can try is to configure your monitoring tool to do it so.
You can also use hwclock -s "yourtimezone time" to reflect the time in ur zone. But still it will be displayed as utc only
