When a virtual machine is powered on. I am unable to increase the machine Memory in power on state under Hardware>Memory of ESxi 4.1 virtual machine>

Like a physical machine, you will need to shut the virtual machine down to add memory.

Welcome to the Communities - Wjat operating system is the VM running because some operating systems do not support adding memory while the VM is running -

that i know that when virtul machine power off it allows to increase memory. My question is does any of the vmware allow to increas memory in power on state is there any way to do so.

OS is windows 2003 enterprise edition 32 bit. Which OS does it support to increase memory in power on state in ESXi 4.1 vsphere

Hot Add Memory and Hot Add v CPU specifications are supported on different editions of Windows Server 2008 R2.

The given edition supported for Hot add memory .

1.Enterprise edition

2.Data centre edition

3.Small Business Server Premium
