Telephony in VMware Platform

Hi All,

I would like to ask a few questions running telephony in VMware:

1. Can we convert physical servers with digium cards connected? Is there a VM equivalent drivers for this?

Current attached cards:

Digium TCE400B PCI Express Voice Compression Card (120 g729a/92 g723.1)

Digium 4-ports 1TE435BF T1/E1/J1/PRI PCI-Express (240 E1 ports)

Amfeltec PCI Express Timer Module

2. If not, can we add this cards on the ESXi host itself and then connect this devices to the VM?

Thanks!

I have an Avaya telephony cluster in production.

I assume this is for production? Pass-through is possible but the real issue is if the the telephony vendor supports it. For instance I can't upgrade to ESXi 6.0 due to telephony vendor support. Bottom line is you can do what you stated, if your physical iron supports modern virtualization pass-through. Hopefully this helps and ideally you can utilize a test environment for testing.
