System administration gude for esx server 4.0

Hi can any body have well documented system adminstration guide for esx server 4.0. The guide provided by vmware is not as good as we generelly have linux system administration guide( with detailed things) where we can manage everything by command line no gui. so that i can command on esx commands and manage system completely with command line.

I haven't seen a B2V guide yet for vSphere4, but all commands that I have seen work in ESX4, plus some new ones outlined in the CLI guide.

here's something that gives you a brief description of each mount point.

Thanks for replying again.

My main idea is to have a admin gide who has all the information about Booting process /parttion structure /recovery information. like we have

in Enterprize Linux administration guide.

Booting process is quite the same as a Linux boot process with the vmkernel modules that will be loaded in the next step.

Unfortunally there isn't a document for understand how grub handle the vmdk file for the service console.

For the partition strucure, again there is a service console part + /vmfs and some minor directories.

No document info about /proc entries for vmware.

Service console recovery is the same of a normal Linux recovery, vmware's part recovery depends on the type of problem.

For CLI I suggest to see also Perl or PowerShell extention, cause API and SDK is more documented than the simple CLI (and remenber that ESXi CLI is a little different, but API are quite the same).
