System Compatibility List + RAID

Hi There,

I seem to have a difficult time answering what should be a very simple question.

If a system is listed fully on the system compatability list e.g. here:

http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?device_cat=server&device_id=13985

Manufactor page here:

http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/2U/5026/SYS-5026T-3F.cfm

The onboard SAS controller (LSI SAS1068E) - can I use it to RAID drives?

This device is also seperately on the I/O Device guide here:

http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/detail.php?device_cat=io&device_id=1462

Yet, I see a number of posts with issues. Although my example is specific (and I do need this specific example addressed), can one be sure that when you buy a system of the compatability list that you can use the built in RAID controller - for RAID, rather than JBOD?

If the system is listed on HCL and you did not altered any hardware component (and are using the BIOS version listed also), you rarely will have any sort of problem using the hardware functionality.
