A while back I tried building iPXE for VMXNET3, however this failed as the VM wouldn't load the ROM file, giving out the error: ` BIOS 15ad07b0.rom has unexpected file size 0x10600`
I contacted the developers of iPXE, and they got back to me with: 'A quick experiment suggests that the VMXNET3 virtual hardware implements only a 64kB expansion ROM BAR, which is slightly too small to support the current iPXE ROM image'
Is there a way to get around this? This is for a homelab, so I don't have a support contract with VMware so I can't make a ticket (nor a employer who does).
