Supermicro X10DAi motherboard and ARC-1264IL-16 RAID controller compatible with ESXi 5.5

Hi,

First thing, My apologies about bad English as I'm not a native speaker.

I'm newbie to build server for ESXi 5.5 and planing to buy X10DAi motherboard and ARC-1264IL-16 RAID controller.

This board is based on the Intel C612 chipset and has Intel I210 GbE network controller.

I've made some research and couldn't find X10DAi motherboard on VMware Compatibility Guide.

So, I would like to ask,Does anyone know or have any experience of the above chipsets and ARC-1264IL-16 RAID controller will working with  ESXi 5.5 with/without any issue ?

Hi,

the mainboard is not on the VMWare HCL and here is what Supermicro has to say about software compatibility: Super Micro Computer, Inc. | Service and Support | OS Certifications Matrix | SuperServer X10

THe X10DAi is just listed twice in some Workstation system with no compatibility for VMWare.

So there is no driver support for VMWare though it might generally work.

Areca provides its own drivers for their controllers: Areca Technology Corporation

You may need to create a (self-)customzied VMWare ESXi installation image if you plan to install VMWare on that RAID volume.
