Stuck when wanting webclient access

So, I finally install ESXi 5.5, and it's sitting ticking away in the corner of the room.    I can go to https://hostname/ and I see what's in the attached file.

What I can't seem to do is to connect with the webclient.  I try https://hostname:9443/vsphere-client

I get timeout.

I've been googling like crazy for an hour, and all I can find is a way to administer this box with the webclient.

The aim is to have four separate Linux guests on this host.  Here, we have another server (CentOS), three Macs and one Linux laptop.  No MS Windows.

I'm stuck, and would appreciate any help.

The URL which you are attempting to access is not valid for ESXi host.

This URL is for accessing vCenter server via web client which can be used to manage multiple host. If there is only one host running at this moment I can suggest to install a windows and download vsphere client to manage it.

Once done you can deploy a vCenter appliance version ( bases on linux) and then use that to manage the host.

If you do want to use windows and want to manage a standalone host then it is possible only via command line. However command line does not console access to VM's so we cannot do much on the managing the VM.

Thank you!  That response makes it a lot clearer!  I have an old copy of Windows 7 lying around, I'm going to install that on Oracle Virtualbox and use it to run the client.  Thanks again!  Smiley Happy
