I'm fairly new to the world of VMware but I've been in IT for quite a while.
I'm setting up a home lab and want to be able to play with VMware without fear of seriously messing anything up.
The issue I am having is my VMware install gets stuck at "loading module megaraid_sas"
I've checked VMwares compatability guide and it says that the 9240-8i is supported...

I've even downloaded the VIB for this controller and used VMware PowerCLI to inject the drivers into an ISO in hopes that, that will resolve the issue but no luck.
My current set up is a Dell T20 with a 9240-8i raid controller, two 500GB ssd's running in raid 1 and two 1TB drives also in raid 1.
ESXi 6.5 installs fine without the raid controller but I would really like to have the raid controller working.
I've done quite a bit of browsing for the solution to this issue and I have seen some older posts about the megaraid_sas issue but none I've seen have been helpful.
I am truly at a loss and any advice will be greatly appreciated
