I struggle with the problem of getting the ESXi to recognize a existing 1Tb partition on a Synology box. The datastore was originally populated on the very same ESXi host.
What happed was I removed the datastore, but did not make any modifications to it. When I later reintroduce it to the system I was now told under Add Storage | Disk/Lun told “The hard disk is blank” and that it will create a new partition.
And where its getting really strange: I took a new and blank Synology box, added a new datastore – copied some test data, removed the datastore. Re-added it, same error: “The hard disk is blank”
Any help would be apricated
