Hello,
I cancelled a Storage vMotion task for a VM and now I have two VMs with the same name. I understand Storage vMotion creates a Shadow VM as part of the migration.
The cancellation hasn't been cleaned up so I now have one VM powered on and working and one VM powered off with 0MB datastores.
Is it ok to goahead and delete this "Shadow" VM?
I look forward to hearing from anyone with assistance.
Thanks,
Peter.
I guess, there is no problem.
Just remove that from inventory and then delete the folder.
Browse your datastore check the virtual machine's folder and if it's empty or not contains of any VMDK files.
You can delete that.
For sure, you can remove 2nd virtual machines from inventory before deleting that.
No VMDK files just a couple of rather large .vsmp files and the usual VM files.
Should be ok to delete then?
Thanks for your help!
Peter.
